Some of Sheryl’s bad experiences as an aspiring actress mirror those of Anna Kendrick
Scenario
Sheryl Bradshaw, a single woman looking for a suitor for a hit 1970s TV series, chooses charming bachelor Rodney Alcala, unaware that behind his tender facade lies a deadly secret. Sheryl’s comment about breasts is “taken verbatim from something that happened to me when I was 19.” Towards the end of the film, her name is spelled Cheryl in one of the narrations that reveal what happened after the film.
Cheryl, it’s time to make a decision!
Her name is actually spelled Sheryl, which was correct in the cast list. Ed: This marks the end of our game.

Autumn Best gives a simply outstanding performance in Anna Kendrick’s directorial debut, but Daniel Zovatto as serial killer Rodney Alcala is also perfectly creepy. The soundtrack and cinematography are impressive and engaging, and the script has good pacing and character.
I see good things ahead for Anna Kendrick’s directing career
I realize it’s loosely based on the true story of Alcalo’s crimes, but the writers got a little creative with the true story (the character “Laura” (played by Nicolette Robinson) never existed, Rodney was bachelor number one, not three, etc.) I also could have used a little more background on him and how he became such a monster. Overall, it was a tense, interesting and rather frustrating look at what has to be one of the strangest serial murder cases of the last 50 years.
